Superheat was founded in 1962 by James H. Powell & Janet W. Powell. Mr. Powell built his first flowhood and was testing and balancing long before there were any organizations to regulate and create standards for test and balance of HVAC systems.
They started in their garage and in 1970 they built and moved into their new building in South Houston. In 1973, Mr. Powell became certified by the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) and the Texas NEBB Chapter. In 1985, they turned the management over to their son, James H. Powell Jr. They remained as the advisory team and Mr. Powell over saw every job until his passing on September 6, 2011.
James H. Powell, Jr. continued to manage the business and in 2004 he turned the management over to his sister, Janet Powell Putnam, and brother-in-law, Kenneth W. Stansell and stayed part of the advisory team. James H. Powell, Jr. became certified by National Balancing Council (NBC) in 2012 and oversaw every job until his passing on January 22, 2017.
Kenneth W. Stansell became certified by the National Balancing Council (NBC) in 2018 and became a member of ASHRAE in 2019. Superheat strives to always maintain the highest quality of work and is built on integrity and family. In fact, our up and coming 4th generation Technicians are currently working to obtain their Air Balancing Technician Certifications. These young men, Harley W. Jackson and Jason D. P'Pool, are the future of Superheat and represent our company with professionalism and skill.
